Sorenson's Ranch School is a fully functioning ranch that helps struggling youth. Sorenson’s Ranch School is located in Koosharem, Utah.[1] Sorenson’s Ranch School is a licensed residential treatment center in the State of Utah [2] that assists troubled teens. Sports program

Sorenson’s Ranch School offers a comprehensive sports program. Sports help teach teamwork, accountability and discipline. Students participate in sports with surrounding schools in sports such as basketball, volleyball, and many more. The Sorenson's Ranch School Mustangs Football Team [4] also competes with surrounding schools.

Sorenson’s Ranch School is accredited through The Northwest Accreditation Commission [5] Sorenson’s Ranch is also registered with the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs [6] Sorenson’s Ranch School is registered with The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO). The Joint Commission typically is a certification for hospitals; however, the Joint Commission provides accreditation, including deemed status accreditation for several other types of health care organizations in addition to hospitals [7]

Founding

Sorenson’s Ranch School was founded in 1959 by Burnell Sorenson[8]. Burnell and his wife, Carrol Sorenson, were both school teachers. Because of the declining health of Burnell, Shane and Jill Sorenson took over the helm of the school around 1998. Layne Bagley took over as the primary admissions person.
